North American Mission Board
Matthew and Kathryn Nunnelley were living the "American Dream" in 2005. They had a son, owned a nice house, had 2 newer vehicles, and a dog. During a time of focused prayer over the course of a week, God began to reveal to the Nunnelleys that He wanted them to serve Him in a greater capacity. In the summer of 2007, Kathryn left her job as a high school English teacher where she had taught for seven years, and Matthew shut down his pool and spa service company he had started seven years earlier, to head to Worcester, MA, and work with an inner-city ministry called Pleasant Street Baptist Church. The church was in the heart of the city, and had a new pastor who was dedicated to loving the people of the neighborhood, showing them Jesus, and proclaiming the greatness of God. The Nunnelleys joined in and helped disciple attenders, and develop leaders for different ministries there.
Four years later they were called back home to Anniston, AL, to work with Greenbrier Road Baptist Church (Matthew was Minister of Music and Discipleship), and Calhoun Christian Women's Job Corps (Kathryn was site co-coordinator).
After three years of being back in the Bible belt, it was clear God was not finished with them in New England. In 2015, they moved to Montpelier, VT to help plant Capital Community Church. That's where they are today, loving neighbors and trying to show Vermonters God's love. They are holding Thursday night Bible studies where around 30 attenders eat together, worship together, and study God's Word with the growing group of believers.
