"What's the Word"
I Kings 18:21-39

3½ years of drought is over and we see the word from Elijah.

I.    Elijah's word is Make a  choice . (18:21)

            A.    Pay attention to Elijah's  statement .
Joshua 24:15 asks how long will you straddle the fence? We must decide who we will
serve. Matthew 6:24 posts the same question by our Lord Jesus. We cannot serve two
masters. We must serve the True Master. A choice MUST be made.

            B.    Pay attention to the people's  silence .
There was nothing the people could say. They had been caught. The people were at a
point that they had to make a choice.
They could have debated in order to justify their actions, but they had nothing to say.
Silence was the conviction of the Holy Spirit.
Today is the day to make the choice.

II.    Elijah's word is, I have a  challenge . (18:22-24)

        A.    There is  opportunity  to  repent . (vs. 24)
There was a chance to say, our god could not do what your God could do. We have been
serving the wrong god. We have been serving a false god.
When the Word of God is challenging you, it gives you a chance to repent.

        B.    There is  opposition  which  rebels . (vs. 24)
They spoke in rebellion by saying, we will challenge your God.
Proverbs 16:18 tells us that our pride will destroy and kill us.
Proverbs 29:23 also tells us that our pride will bring us down.

III.    Elijah's word is, Cry aloud. (18:27-29)

        A.     The prophets were  mocked . (vs. 27)
Elijah, the man of God, mocked the prophets.

        B.     The prophets were  misled . (vs. 28)
The prophets thought that if the inflicted pain upon themselves, then their god would have
pity on them and rescue them.

        C.     The prophets were  missed . (vs. 29)
The prophets had prayed and raved to there god from morning to evening and still heard
                        nothing from their god.

IV.    Elijah's word is, Come to me. (28:30-39)

        A.    And see, God is  priority . (vs. 30)
Elijah told them to go and rebuild the altar back to God.

        B.    And see, God is  prominent . (vs. 31)
Elijah took 12 stones to rebuild the altar in order to remind the people of the promises of
                        God.
God must be prominent and not self.

        C.    And see, God is  petitioned . (vs. 36-37)
They asked that it be all God and not us!

        D.    And see, God is  praised . (vs. 39)
God will be praised if His people will praise.
