"What a Christian Ought to Look
Like"
Philippians 4:1-5
I. Christians be
United. (vs. 2-3)
A. vs. 2--Beseech
means to urge or compel.
Same mind means to be in harmony.
Spiritual ability depends on Harmony and peace in the Lord.
All must be in Harmony for the Glory of God.
Don't leave tension at another church and go to another. This must be resolved.
B. vs.3--Yolk fellows--Picture a pair of oxen in the yolk. If
they do not work together, then they
will break the yolk. The must work in Harmony in order to get anything done. He
was
talking to the two women who apparently had gotten along before, but now were
having
problems between themselves. They were in danger of breaking the yolk.
II. Christians be
Joyful. (vs. 4)
A. Joyful means to
be cheerful.
Christians need to be cheerful at all times.
It is easy for us to be cheerful and joyful when all things are going good. When
things began to
go badly or not just right, we forget to be joyful.
If we are in Christ, then we have already won and should be joyful--no matter
what.
Rejoice always!
Job 1:2-3 tells us of a man who had everything. In one days time, Job lost it
all. |
Job 1:20 tells us that even in the bad times, Job fell down and worshiped God.
III. Christians be
Gentle. (vs. 4)
Also, John 12:31-35 tells us how to
glorify God and that is by loving one another.
A. Moderation means mild, gentle.
If we cannot lead our homes, then we have already failed. We must be successful
at home or we
will not be successful away from our homes.
WE NEED TO FALL IN LOVE WITH JESUS, STAY IN LOVE WITH JESUS AND DO HIS WORK.
