"What Choice Do We Make"
I Samuel 8:1-8
I. The People's Choice I Samuel 8:1-8
A. Their choice was initiated by perverted
leaders. (vs. 8:1-5)
Verse 3 tells us that they did not walk in his ways--God and Samuel's way.
Read James 3:1 and Luke 12:48.
Exodus 23:8; Deuteronomy 16:19
Watch the ways we respond and operate.
These men had greater responsibility to the people.
Leaders are responsible before God.
Followers are also responsible and must not blame others for choices.
MUST BE CAREFUL WHO WE FOLLOW.
We live in a world where everyone wants to blame everyone else except
themselves.
B. Their choice was influenced by pagan
nations. (vs. 8:5)
They asked to be made like the other nations--they did not like the way they
were at this time.
We must decide to be faithful and we will be faithful!!
People don't come to church because they don't want to come to church.
C. Their choice isolated a perfect
God. (vs. 8:7-8)
II.
The Prophet's Choice I Samuel 16:6-7
A. It was based on position . (vs. 6)
Samuel got ahead of God. Surely, he thought that the 1st one brought through was
the one.
B. It was bases on appearance . (vs. 7)
Don't go looking for the best looking one--It may not be God's will.
III. The Proper Choice I Samuel 16:11-12
A. He is the choice that was left . (vs.

Everyone overlooked David, thinking surely this is not the one.
Sometimes God will pick the one that we would not pick and God will use them.
David set the standard.
B. He is the choice that was mocked . (I
Samuel 17:28, 43-44)
David was mocked even by his own brothers.
C. He is the choice that was remembered .
King David is remembered. He was committed to the Lord.
