"Were They Fishing For Keeps or For
Fun"
Luke 21:1-14
If you are fishing for fun, then it
is all about you.
If you are fishing for keeps, then you are willing to take a chance and a risk.
I. There is a leadership at the sea . (vs. 3)
Peter is a leader at sea.
Did Peter lead in wrong direction?
A. There was a decision to fish . (vs. 3a)
Went back to doing that which made him comfortable.
vs.15--
B. There was a decision to follow . (vs. 3b)
Someone is willing to follow--whether we are doing what is right or wrong.
C. There was a difficult find . (vs. 3c)
Nothing was caught.
They were not happy or joyful because nothing was caught.
II.
There is the Lord on the shore . (vs. 4-6)
A. He has perfect timing . (vs. 4)
The quicker we exhaust ourselves and our resources, the quicker He will deliver
us.
B. He has a personal address . (vs.
5)
He knew who they were and where they were.
C. He gives precise directions .
(vs. 6)
They experienced a miracle.
A miracle is not when we ask God to do something and he does it, BUT when God
asks
us to do something and we do it.
We need to always say yes to God.
III. There is our Lord who is a servant . (vs. 12, 15-17)
A. Jesus serves breakfast . (vs. 12) See also
Matt. 7:7-11
Worked to meet their physical need.
B. Jesus delivers responsibility . (vs. 15-17)
We tend to look for a church based on what it can offer us. We need to look for
a church where we
can serve and do. That is how to get a miracle!
We are called to Play for Keeps!!
