"The Wrong Place at the Wrong Time"
II Samuel 11

PART I IN THE AM SERVICE

I.    The consideration of sin. (vs. 1-3a)
We always consider sin. He considered before he committed.

            A. Considered sin because of his placement.
Vs. 1...but David stayed at Jerusalem.

David should have been with his army, but did not go.

We must be careful of what we see and do!!

            B. Considered sin because of his passion.

David had a weakness toward sexual impurity.

When we end up some place that we are not supposed to be, then we need to leave!!

            C. Considered sin because of his persistence. (vs. 3-4)

He kept going after Bathsheba until he slept with her.

II.    The confusion of sin. (vs. 4)

She went through purification so she could commit an impure act.

David convinced himself that what he was doing was okay.

PART II IN THE PM SERVICE

III. The complication of sin. (vs. 5-13)

            A. Sin's complication is an unexpected outcome.

There is a time when we think we get away with sin.

David got more than he had bargained for with his sin.

            B. Sin's complication is an unexpected outlook. (vs. 6)

If we get caught in sin, then we cannot focus on what we should be doing. We focus on the sin.

            C. Sin's complication is an unexpected allegiance. (vs. 9-13)

IV.    The completion of sin is death. (vs. 14-27)

Look at James 1:15..."when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death."

        A. Sin was not secret.

Joab, the messenger and his servants knew his sin.

After a few days of mourning, David married Bathsheba.

David kept trying to "fix" his sin.

The only way to "fix" sin is I John 1:9...

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and to cleanse us
                            from all unrighteousness". (NASB)
