"The Worldly Believer"
Genesis 13:11; 14:11-14; 19:14, 30-38
Lot had a second-hand faith. He was a true believer but he lived a worldly and
carnal life.
I. Lot's Choice . (Gen. 13:11)
It was a seemingly small choice.
It was a strictly
selfish choice.
It was a short
sighted choice.
Lot was backsliding. He did just enough to be called "religious".
We decided or decided what we want and not what God wants--just as Lot did.
II.
Lot's Chains . (Gen. 14:11-14)
Lot was in chains because of 1 choice.
He lost his livelihood .
He lost his
liberty .
1. Abraham's action .
Abraham went to take care of Lot and to rescue him.
2. Abraham's achievements .
Abraham saved Lot.
We should take action for our brothers and sisters and try to take care of them.
III. Lot's Children . (Genesis 19:14, 26, 30-38)
Lot ended up right back where Abraham had rescued him from.
The doom of his family.
1. The deception of his sons in law. (vs. 14)
2. The death of his wife. (vs. 26)
When you truly repent, you do not look back at the old way of life.
3. The destruction of his family.
a) The concoction of a plan. (vs. 30-32)
They felt that they knew more than God. They "hatched" a plan.
The daughters of Lot thought the plans seemed good.
b) The consummation of a plan. (vs. 33-35)
c) The consequences of a plan. (vs. 36-38)
The Moabites and the Ammonites were enemies of Israel. This is the same to
this modern day. They are still enemies of Israel and because of a "plan".
