"The Seven Sayings from the Cross"
Passages from Matt., Luke and John

I.    Jesus' first saying from the cross was a word of  forgiveness . (Luke 23:34)

            Matthew 5:44--We should live as Jesus lived. Let Him live through us.

II.    Jesus' second saying from the cross was a word about the  future . (Luke 23:43) 

            The thieves teach us the hope and reality of the future. One asked to be remembered and Jesus
                said he would be with Him in Paradise that very day.

III.     Jesus' third saying from the cross was a word about  family . (John 19:26-27)

            Jesus was concerned about His mother. He entrusted His Mother to John. Need to make sure
                your family is taken care of spiritually and financially if you are gone.
               

IV.    Jesus' fourth saying from the cross was a word about  forsaking . (Matthew 27:46)

            There was darkness on the earth from 12 noon until 3PM. It was dark because Jesus bore the sins
                of everyone during this time. God, His Father, turned his back on His Son because He could not
                look at Him with all the sin placed on Jesus.
 

V.    Jesus' fifth saying from the cross was a word about His  flesh . (John 19:28)

            Psalm 69:21--Jesus had been through a Spiritual Warfare causing physical problems. Spiritual
                battles affects our physical bodies.

VI.    Jesus' sixth saying from the cross was a word about  finishing . (John 19:30)

            Everything is finished. All that needed to be done has been done. Our debt has been PAID IN FULL!

VII.    Jesus' seventh saying from the cross was a word to His  Father . (Luke 23:46)

            Jesus said I place in Your hands and trust You with my Spirit. We must trust Him with our Soul.
