"The Heritage of a House"
Psalm 127
I. We must confirm the builder of the house. (vs. 1a)
Christ, God must build the house.
Build--train--to exercise--doing over and over where we will do it right.
Labor--work
severely--do hard work--trying to do it right.
Vain--idolatry--do things in vain.
We must do
things for God or we do it for evil.
II.
We must confirm the keeper of the house.
(vs. 1b)
Keep--protect or attend to something.
In verse 37,
the Syrians were conquering all. Rest in God to take care of everything.
The Angel of
God killed 186,000 Syrians that night.
We must let
God keep the house.
III. We must maintain control against the busy-ness of the house. (vs. 2)
Luke 11:9--Some voids are bigger. Working all the time. Overwhelmed with being
busy.
Get to the
point that you say "I can't do it anymore".
If one is
working all the time, then we are not there for the children.
Luke 11:9--Ask--beg, call for, crave for.
Seek--to worship.
Unlock, Open--announce your arrival.
IV.
We must carefully consider the continuation
of the house. (vs. 3-5)
Heritage--Inheritance.
If we have
not laid the right foundation, we won't raise our children right.
Children will
be a blessing with the right foundation.
With a basic
bow, the arrow will go only as far as you are strong--done in your own strength.
With a
compound bow, we are allowed to shoot further than a basic bow and our strength,
due
to technology--Example of Christ in us; We have the help of Christ.
With a cross
bow, once it is loaded, you must shoot it. With Christ help, we must shoot our
children straight. Without Christ, this is impossible.
A practice
arrow is different from a real arrow. A practice arrow can be shot more than
once,
but a real arrow can only be shot once. Children are the real arrows--only given
one chance
with them.
Children are an inheritance---A GIFT FROM GOD!!
