"The Confessions of a King"
Psalm 51:1-4

I.    David makes a request for cleansing. (vs. 1-2)

                We need to realize that we are a dirty people.
                We all have sin that needs cleansing.
                God never gives us more punishment than what we need.
                God's mercy and discipline are perfect.

                Transgression means rebellion or revolt. 

                vs.2--wash--trample underfoot                                 
                                                                  
    

II.    David realizes his contamination. (vs. 3)

III.    David realizes the authority of the creator.                
           
            A. God is the object of his sin. (vs. 4a)          

            B. God is the authority of his consequences. (vs. 4b)

                    David recognizes that God is justified in His actions.
